PRESENTATION

CeSPeC, Center Studies on the Contemporary Thought, (founded in 2003, but already active since 1999) is a no-profit cultural association, that gathers around a common cultural research project young students, graduated, PhD students, doctors of research, researchers, university students of humanistic disciplines, but also teachers and common citizens.

Common interest of the associates and of the supporters is to contribute to the reflection and the cultural growth, in a pluralistic, non-confessional, non-party and interdisciplinary shape, about problems emerging from the globalized and contemporary world.

We share the interest then to make such a reflection – as well as the correlated events of cultural promotion – emerge from a deepened and not ideological scientific search on scheduled and precise issues. Besides, it is our interest to interact with the territory in which we operate (the Province of Cuneo), to contribute to its cultural development and to collaborate with agencies, institutions and persons who, as we do, perceive the urgency to carry out researches and to develop initiatives of cultural character; a particular attention will be paid to favour initiatives of formative and educational character towards young people and teachers of the schools of the every order and degree. As associates to CeSPeC, we propose ourselves therefore to contribute to create occasions of dialogue and rigorous and not occasional debate around the social-cultural problems of the contemporary society. In order to approach such an aim we think it’s of primary importance to exchange of ideas and experts coming from different currents of thought, and coming from the local, national and international context.

ACTIVITIES

With the support of private and public agencies and with the collaboration of several institutions, we elaborate and we develop pluri-annual cultural projects around issues concerning the contemporary and globalized world. Such plans find their characterization in their interdisciplinary approach (philosophy, history, right, religious sciences, economy, sociology, political studies, etc) and in their inner articulation. Every plan is articulated in a series of cultural actions re-entering in following fields of intervention:

For what concerns the developed and previewed actions, we deal with in-team and individual scientific researches, planning and realization of conventions, cycles of conferences, courses of formation, education activities, seminars, summer schools, preparation of documentation centres, libraries and research centres opened to the public. We take care of the following research and reflection topics: contemporary religiousness in relation to the phenomenon of globalization, territorial cultural and religious traditions, religiousness and virtuality, philosophical ethics and public ethics (environmental ethics, communication ethics, image ethics, ethics of globalization, ethics and finance, landscape and territory ethics, ethics of technique, ethics and anthropology), Europe and globalization, philosophical-political issues related to the process of European unification, religious history and institutional contemporary, ethics and formation/instruction, philosophy for and with children.
